This stainless steel coif headdress is built entirely by hand, using hundreds of individually linked rings to create a flowing, structured form that moves naturally with you.
It drapes across the head, neck, and shoulders with a weight you can feel—but a finish that remains smooth and comfortable against the skin.
Originally inspired by historical chainmail, pieces like this were constructed ring by ring for strength and durability. This version brings that same technique into a modern, wearable statement.

This isn’t something you wear once.

To make this chainmaille Coif, I handcoiled the stainless steel 18swg wire into coils of 5mm internal diameter then cut the coils into individual rings, I then wove them into the 4 in 1 pattern ( ancient armourers go to butted weave) with my pair of trusty pliers, strong hands and a bucketfull of patience. The resulting ring weave feels like a silky metal cloth! It is strong and long lasting. The face covering is removable, handy for eating and drinking especially when you've been on the battlefield or at Tournament all day.
The Coif headress will last a lifetime ( probably many many lifetimes) and can be cleaned in warm soapy water after use. Because the Coif is made from highest food service grade stainless steel, it will not tarnish or rust.
The Coif is available in one size, The cap is 20.5" or 52 Cm in diameter, 10" or 25.4Cm from back of head to eyeholes at the front of the cap, 8.5" or 21.6 Cm from ear to ear, 12.5"or 31.7 Cm from top of crown to hem. If required I can sew in a lightweight cotton wig cap to the coif, so that the rings do not catch on your hair if wearing it for extended periods.
The coif weighs in total 1.430Kg or 3Lb 3 Oz approx. It took 3 wks of intensive weaving to complete.
